About the Recipe

A staple meal in our home! This dish is so easy to throw together- just don’t forget to take the meat out of the freezer! We love this dish because it is so versatile, so we throw in any veggies that need to be used up and it always turns out great!

Ingredients

ree

1 lbs grass fed ground beef or pork

1 yellow onion

1 heaping spoon full of minced garlic

1 bag organic frozen veggies or fresh veggie mix

Bachan’s Japanese BBQ flavor of choice

1/2 C organic rice (soak in filtered water all day- it’s easier on the tummy to digest!)

¼ C avocado oil

salt (to taste)

pepper (to taste)

¼ C sesame seeds (topper)

green onions (topper)

*optional toppings/additions:

furikake

kimchi

spicy mayo (mayo + sriracha)

microgreens

hard boiled egg

add any other veggies you’d like during the cooking process!

Supplies Needed:

Wooden Spoon

Wok or large skillet (we love using cast iron for added iron)

Medium pot

Knife

Cutting board (throw away the plastic ones you have and get WOOD)

Preparation

  1. THAT MORNING: Take meat out of the freezer. Place rice in a pot and cover with filtered water. Leave on stove to soak all day.

  2. THAT EVENING: Dump out water from the rice. Rinse once more to get the leftover starch off. Add in 1 C filtered water and set on stove to med/high. Mix throughout the other steps until fluffy.

  3. Put wok on med on the stove with a dash of avocado oil. Dice onion and any other veggies that need to be used up in the fridge while waiting to heat.

  4. Once wok is hot, throw in the meat, mixing with spoon until all of the pink is just about cooked out (about 6 minutes). Add a generous squeeze of Bachan’s until meat is coated with the sauce. Mix for 2 more minutes, then set the meat aside in a bowl.

  5. Add diced onion to the seasoned wok with avocado oil. Mix until translucent (about 4 minutes). Add the minced garlic and mix until fragrant (about 1 minute). Throw in veggies of choice. Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix until everything is soft. Add in another squeeze of Bachan’s to taste- we use 1-2 Tablespoons.

  6. Add cooked rice and meat to the veggie mixture and stir until well combined.

  7. Chop the whole green onion for a topping. Spoon in your serving into a bowl, sprinkle with sesame seeds, green onion, and another other toppings. Enjoy!
