About CORE.

Looking for the best chiropractors in Metro Detroit? CORE Chiropractic and Performance Center is a clinic like no other. At this one-of-a kind healing center, you will find longer appointment times and patient-centered care. Our physicians have extensive training in the most evidence informed care which ensures not every patient gets the same treatments.

Visiting with your chiropractor will never feel rushed, as our visits are 20 minutes long. These consist of adjustments, manual therapies, exercises, and education. You are not just a number to us and we value your concerns. Our longer treatment times are to make sure you get the care you need.

As a patient, you will not be told what you have to do, but be able to participate in your healing process. We will be there every step of the way to help you understand what caused your pain, how to get out of pain, what lifestyle changes to make, and how to maintain your progress so you do not have to see us every week for the rest of your life.

Hello

MEET THE TEAM

DR. WILLIAM BONANNO, DC

CHIROPRACTIC PHYSICIAN

COREcpc Co-founder

I am a hometown kid - I grew up here in Livonia, MI, playing pretty much every sport under the sun. In 2014, I graduated from Stevenson High School, where my spark for chiropractic ignited. I knew I wanted to be in this profession since seeking care from a chiropractor after a shoulder injury sidelined me during baseball season. After different opinions from different doctors, I put my trust in my chiropractor. After a thorough exam on my shoulder, he helped rehab me back to health, and went the extra mile to help me strengthen it to prevent future injury. It inspired me to have the skills to be able to do that for athletes in their sport and for people wanting to get back to their everyday life. After Stevenson, I went on to Western Michigan University, where I obtained a degree in Exercise Science in 2018. During my time at Western, I walked-on to the football team, where in my last year became undefeated MAC Champions and went on to play at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.

In 2019, I moved to St. Louis, Missouri to start the chiropractic program at Logan University. On top of the workload of school, I also took hundreds of hours of continuing education courses in rehabilitation, gait, developmental kinesiology, TMJ disorder treatment, disc pain, neuroplasticity,  pediatrics, pregnancy, pelvic floor dysfunction, and neurology. I was lucky enough to find great mentors and intern for some world-renowned doctors during my time in St. Louis. They helped me develop my passion for helping people get out of pain and teaching them how to perform at their highest level.

I also have a passion for golf, going to sporting events, or doing anything with our two dogs, Willow and Scarlett. Dr. Maddi and I love traveling and finding new hiking trails and restaurants all over Michigan!

DR. MADDI KARSTENS, DC

CHIROPRACTIC PHYSICIAN

COREcpc Co-founder

Hello, I am Dr. Maddi, the co-founder of COREcpc in Livonia, Michigan. Originally, I am from St. Charles, MO, and attended Southeast Missouri State University (Go Redhawks). I played Division I Soccer for the duration of my four years, conducted research, and worked closely with youth soccer teams in the area. After graduation, I attended Logan University, College of Chiropractic, where I was an MPI representative teaching students adjusting and rehabilitative techniques. I spent 6 months solely in the pediatric clinic on campus, finding my passion in treating kids. I continued coaching youth soccer until graduating with honors and moving to Michigan.

I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor after my team chiropractor in college relieved my back pain that was never understood by other providers. After shadowing my chiropractor, I quickly saw that he took the time to listen to all of his patients, and never set their concerns aside. It is my goal to carry on that legacy and help empower my patients to find the root cause of their issues. My niche is treating proper function, including women's health- especially perinatal (prenatal, pregnancy, postpartum), and pediatric care (starting minutes after birth). I am passionate about giving my patients the proper tools individually to help them be their best selves.

Always a student, I have completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in rehabilitation, pediatrics, pregnancy, pelvic floor dysfunction, gait, developmental kinesiology and milestones, nutrition, TMJ dysfunction treatment, disc pain, neuroplasticity and neurology.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring the Metro-Detroit area's coffee shops and farmer's markets, exploring new places outdoors with Dr. William and our two dogs, staying active with F45 and yoga, trying out new recipes, and drawing.

How are we different?

Sure, there are many great chiropractors in the area, but what makes us any different? At CORE, we prioritize individualized healthcare. In our experience, we have seen quick treatments and temporary relief become the norm. Sometimes, that is all a patient needs. However, most of the time it leaves them feeling better for a few hours, days, or weeks, and then their discomfort creeps back and leaves them feeling hopeless.

With our thorough assessments and treatments, we make sure we find the root cause of your problem(s), and create an action plan together. Sometimes your foot pain is not due to a foot issue. Sometimes you have a lack of energy from a nutritional imbalance or need guidance with your lifestyle, not because you are lazy. We will take the time to sit down and listen to you, find out what is necessary for you to succeed, and be by your side every step of the way to help you get there.

Our goal is to teach you how to get better and stay better so you do not have to come back to us multiple times per week for years to come. And of course we will be here to help you if a new problem ever does arise, or you would simply like to come in for a check-up. The health of your joints is important to us; if you don't use it, you lose it, and we want to help you be able to run, jump, and pick up your grandchildren even when you are 90.

What insurance policies and payments do we accept?

We will not allow insurance to dictate the care that you receive. Insurance does not care about the pain you are in, or how your lack of function is disturbing your quality of life. They care about the payout. That is why they do not allow us to bill for an adjustment the same day as your first visit, nor do they allow us to bill for any additional therapies done to the region that we have adjusted - although research shows the combination of the two is the quickest and most effective route to recovery. This means you would need to come more frequently and receive less care, when our goal is to help you recover as fast as possible. We believe that this is not ethical and does not match our core values, so we are not willing to compromise the care you deserve.

Having chiropractic coverage does not mean that you will not have out-of-pocket costs. For this reason, we provide cash rates for our appointments that are worth up to half-off of deductible rates in which you would have through insurance. Not to mention, if you are someone that does not usually meet your deductible, our cash rates are a more affordable option to begin with.

Our new patient visits can be up to an hour long. This gives us the time to examine you and learn about you as a person. We can then create an individualized plan and begin treatment that same day. We have longer appointment times so that we have the time to answer any questions you have, and continue to re-examine you so that we can feel the progress your joints, tissues, and overall function are making. This quality of care is not possible through being in-network with insurance companies.

We accept HSA, FSA, cash, and card payments. After your appointment, we can send a Superbill, which is a detailed receipt with billing and diagnoses codes for your insurance company. You have the option to send the superbill to your insurance company and they will reimburse you depending on the coverage you have.

*WE ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ACCEPT MEDICARE PATIENTS! Our doctors are in the process of becoming non-par with Medicare. Please call our office if you have further questions.

Why we are not for everyone:

We understand that this approach to chiropractic care is not for everyone. We are not a clinic that has quick visits with just a few adjustments and sends you on your way. We include nutrition, stretches, exercises, and guidance. We have longer appointment times so treatment does not feel rushed and you do not leave thinking, "I barely talked to my doctor."

We care about your progress, of course we love to help you, but we do not want to see you every week for the rest of your life, because that means we are not making a change in your function.

If you are ready to find the root cause of your issues - we are ready to help you fix them.
